Main Ingredients
- 1 pound strawberries
- 4 ounces rum
- 3 ounces simple syrup
- 1 ounce lime juice
Instructions
- Prepare Strawberries: Remove stems from strawberries and slice them in half. Set aside half of the berries (8 ounces) to freeze.
- Freeze Strawberries: Place the 8 ounces of strawberry halves in the freezer and freeze for at least 2 hours until solid.
- Blend Ingredients: Add the fresh strawberries and frozen strawberries to the jar of a high-speed blender. Pour in the rum, simple syrup, and lime juice. Blend until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Garnish and Serve: Pour the blended mixture into glasses and garnish with an extra strawberry and/or a slice of lime for presentation.
- Optional Nonalcoholic Version: To make a nonalcoholic version, omit the rum and replace it with 4 ounces of water. Blend as usual and serve.
Notes
- If you don’t want to wait for the berries to freeze, you can use 4 ounces frozen strawberries and 4 ounces fresh strawberries instead.
- Feel free to adjust the amount of rum to taste; if you use less, you may need to add some water depending on your blender’s preferences.
- The sweetness can be modified by adjusting the amount of simple syrup according to your taste and the natural sweetness of the berries.
- You can use any type of rum you like—white rum and coconut rum are great choices, but spiced or dark rum also works well.
