Description

Delicious and healthy Spice Rubbed Salmon topped with fresh Avocado Salsa, perfect for a quick and flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Spice Rubbed Salmon:

  • 1.5 pound salmon filet
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon honey

Avocado Salsa:

  • 3 avocados, diced
  • 1/3 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1/2 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F to prepare for baking the salmon.
  2. Prepare the Salmon: Pat the salmon filet dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. Make the Spice Rub: In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin, salt, honey, and olive oil, mixing well to form a seasoning blend.
  4. Season the Salmon: Rub the seasoning blend evenly onto the flesh side of the salmon. Place the salmon on a baking sheet skin side down.
  5. Bake Salmon: Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for 12 minutes until mostly cooked through.
  6. Broil for Crispiness: Switch the oven to broil and place the salmon under the broiler for 3 minutes, or until the top is browned and crispy.
  7. Prepare Avocado Salsa: In a bowl, gently stir together diced avocados, fresh cilantro, red wine vinegar, lime juice, red pepper flakes, minced garlic, and salt to taste.
  8. Serve: Top the baked salmon with the avocado salsa and serve immediately for a fresh, vibrant dish.

Notes

  • Use fresh salmon for the best flavor and texture.
  • Adjust the red pepper flakes to taste if you prefer less heat.
  • Make sure to pat the salmon dry to help the spice rub stick better.
  • The broiler step creates a nice crispy crust but watch carefully to prevent burning.
  • Avocado salsa can be made ahead but add the lime juice right before serving to prevent browning.
