Ingredients
Scale
Beef Brisket and Seasoning
- 1 medium-large beef brisket (about 5 pounds)
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Honey BBQ Sauce
- ½ cup ketchup
- ½ cup molasses
- 4 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ⅓ cup apple cider vinegar
Thickening Agent
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Instructions
- Prepare the Slow Cooker: Lightly grease your slow cooker to prevent sticking and place the beef brisket inside.
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, molasses, honey, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and apple cider vinegar. Set aside.
- Season the Brisket: Mix garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper together and rub all over the brisket evenly.
- Cook the Brisket: Pour the prepared honey BBQ sauce over the brisket in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 10 hours until the meat is tender.
- Thicken the Sauce: Remove the liquid from the slow cooker and pour into a large saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir together cold water and cornstarch until dissolved, then slowly add to the boiling sauce. Reduce heat to medium-low and stir continuously until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat.
- Shred and Serve: Shred the beef brisket using two forks. Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and pour the thickened sauce over it. Stir well and serve hot.
Notes
- The sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until ready to use to save prep time.
- For best flavor, allow the brisket to rest for 10-15 minutes after cooking before shredding.
- Use a slow cooker liner for easy cleanup.
- Serve with classic BBQ sides like coleslaw, baked beans, or cornbread for a complete meal.
