Description

A delicious and easy-to-make Shrimp Cocktail Dip featuring seasoned shrimp, creamy whipped cream cheese, and tangy cocktail sauce, perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp Mixture

  • 1/2 pound cooked shrimp peeled, deveined, thawed & roughly chopped
  • 1 tbsp Old Bay seasoning

Cream Cheese Mixture

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 small bunch green onions thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Topping

  • 1 cup cocktail sauce

Instructions

  1. Season the shrimp: Add the chopped shrimp and Old Bay seasoning to a mixing bowl. Toss together until the shrimp are evenly coated with the seasoning.
  2. Whip the cream cheese mixture: In a separate mixing bowl, add the softened cream cheese, 3/4 of the sliced green onions, and Worcestershire sauce. Use a hand mixer to whip until smooth and creamy.
  3. Spread cream cheese base: Evenly spread the whipped cream cheese mixture into a shallow serving dish or platter.
  4. Add cocktail sauce layer: Spread the cocktail sauce evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  5. Top with shrimp: Arrange the seasoned shrimp evenly over the cocktail sauce layer.
  6. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle the remaining green onions over the top for garnish. Serve with your favorite dipping options and enjoy!

Notes

  • To simplify, toss the shrimp with seasoning and mix directly with the cocktail sauce before spreading on the cream cheese layer.
  • This dip is usually served cold but can be warmed briefly in the oven to reduce chill if preferred.
  • Fresh or frozen cooked shrimp is preferred, but canned tiny shrimp can be substituted if well drained and used without chopping.
  • To add extra spice, mix horseradish or Tabasco sauce into the cocktail sauce before layering.
