Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons butter, salted (85 g)
- 10 ounces mini marshmallows
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 cups Lucky Charms cereal (296 g)
Optional Topping
- 2 ounces white chocolate bar, finely chopped (57 g)
Instructions
- Prepare Pan: Lightly grease a 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) pan with butter and set aside to prevent sticking.
- Melt Butter: Place the salted butter in a large pot over low heat and melt completely, stirring gently to avoid burning.
- Add Marshmallows and Vanilla: Once the butter is melted, add the mini marshmallows and vanilla extract. Stir continuously until the marshmallows have fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Combine Cereal: Remove the pot from heat, then add the Lucky Charms cereal. Gently fold the cereal into the marshmallow mixture until all pieces are evenly coated without crushing them.
- Transfer Mixture: Immediately spread the mixture evenly into the prepared pan. Press gently with a spatula or your fingers to form an even layer, avoiding packing the cereal too tightly to keep the treats light and chewy.
- Cool and Set: Allow the treats to cool completely at room temperature to set properly.
- Optional White Chocolate Drizzle: If desired, melt the white chocolate in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring well between each interval until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled treats for an extra touch of sweetness.
Notes
- Do not overpack the cereal when pressing it into the pan to avoid dense, tough treats.
- Use low heat when melting butter and marshmallows to prevent burning.
- Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days for best freshness.
- Substitute the white chocolate drizzle with milk chocolate or skip it completely for a simpler version.
- If you prefer softer treats, slightly reduce the drying time before cutting and serving.
