Description

These Hot Italian Sub Sliders are a flavorful and easy-to-make appetizer or snack featuring layers of ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese, and spicy peppers on soft Hawaiian rolls. Brushed with a garlic Italian butter and baked to golden perfection, they are perfect for parties or casual gatherings and can be served with marinara sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale

Sliders

  • 12 pack rolls, halved lengthwise (Kings Hawaiian rolls recommended)
  • 6 oz ham, thinly sliced
  • 5 oz salami, thinly sliced
  • 5 oz pepperoni, thinly sliced
  • 9 slices provolone cheese
  • ⅓ cup pepperoncini, sliced
  • ⅓ cup pickled hot cherry peppers, sliced
  • ¼ cup salted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed (fresh recommended)

To Serve (optional)

  • 1 cup marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the sliders evenly.
  2. Assemble Sliders: Lay the bottom halves of the rolls on a baking sheet or pan. Layer ham slices first, then salami, followed by pepperoni, and top with provolone cheese slices. Add sliced hot cherry peppers and sliced pepperoncini over the cheese. Replace the top halves of the rolls to complete each slider.
  3. Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix together the melted salted butter, Italian seasoning, and crushed garlic until well combined.
  4. Brush Sliders: Generously brush the seasoned garlic butter over the tops of the sliders, making sure to cover all the nooks and crannies for maximum flavor.
  5. Bake Covered: Cover the sliders with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes, until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Serve: Remove the sliders from the oven, slice them apart if needed, and serve warm. Optionally, serve with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic for best flavor instead of jarred garlic.
  • Kings Hawaiian rolls are recommended for their soft texture and slight sweetness, but any soft slider buns will work.
  • Covering with foil during baking prevents the tops from burning while allowing the cheese to melt thoroughly.
  • Adjust the amount of hot cherry peppers and pepperoncini according to spice preference.
  • Marinara sauce makes a great dipping option but can be omitted if desired.
  • These sliders can be prepared a few hours ahead and baked just before serving.
