Ingredients
Scale
Mocktail Base
- 1 bottle non-alcoholic red wine OR 4 cups pomegranate or grape juice
Fruits and Spices
- 2 oranges (or blood oranges)
- 20 black grapes sliced
- 15 blackberries or blueberries
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 1 red apple sliced
Additional Ingredients
- 2 cups sparkling water or ginger ale (optional)
- 2-4 tablespoons maple syrup (optional)
- Extra fruit for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Fruit and Cinnamon: Place the sliced oranges, black grapes, blackberries or blueberries, red apple slices, and cinnamon sticks into a large pitcher or punch bowl.
- Add the Base Liquid: Pour in the bottle of non-alcoholic red wine or 4 cups of pomegranate or grape juice over the fruit and cinnamon sticks. Stir gently to combine.
- Mull the Mocktail: Refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to infuse. For a stronger fruit and spice flavor, mull for up to 2 to 4 hours.
- Add Bubbles: When ready to serve, stir the sangria again gently and add 2 cups of sparkling water or ginger ale if using. Stir very gently to maintain carbonation.
- Adjust Sweetness: Taste the mocktail and add maple syrup in 1 tablespoon increments up to 4 tablespoons as desired for sweetness. Stir gently after each addition.
- Serve and Garnish: Pour the mocktail over ice into glasses and garnish with additional orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and extra fruit as desired.
Notes
- Non-alcoholic Merlot or Shiraz varieties work best for authentic flavor, but any red wine or red grape/pomegranate juice is fine.
- Maple syrup is optional and can be adjusted to taste after the sparkling water or ginger ale is added to avoid over-sweetening.
- This recipe is ideal for at least 3 servings. To make a single serving, reduce ingredient quantities proportionally and use a small pitcher or glass for mulling.
