Description

A classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich featuring melted cheese between buttery toasted slices of bread, perfect for a quick and comforting meal or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 2 slices bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)

Cheese

  • 3 slices cheese (cheddar, American, or your favorite melting cheese)

Butter

  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread: Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice to ensure a crispy, golden exterior when cooked.
  2. Heat the skillet: Place a skillet or non-stick pan over medium heat and allow it to warm up for even cooking.
  3. Assemble the sandwich: Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet. Layer the cheese slices evenly on top of this bread slice.
  4. Top the sandwich: Place the second slice of bread on top of the cheese, buttered side facing up.
  5. Cook the sandwich: Cook for 3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is fully melted.
  6. Rest and serve: Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it rest for 1 minute before slicing. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra crispy bread, use mayonnaise instead of butter on the outside of the slices.
  • Try mixing cheeses for a more complex flavor—cheddar, mozzarella, and gouda make a great combination!
  • Cook on low-medium heat to ensure the cheese melts fully without burning the bread.
  • Add extras like cooked bacon, sliced tomatoes, or caramelized onions for a gourmet twist.
