Description

Celebrate the holiday season with festive Christmas Rice Krispie Treat Bites in red, green, and white. These colorful, bite-sized treats combine the classic crunch of Rice Krispies with gooey marshmallows, buttery richness, and cheerful sprinkles to delight both kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale

Red Batch

  • 3 tablespoons butter, sweet cream, salted
  • 3 cups mini marshmallows
  • 3 cups Kellogg’s Rice Krispie cereal
  • Wilton Color Right Food Coloring – Red or Crimson
  • Nonpareils Christmas sprinkles (optional)

Green Batch

  • 3 tablespoons butter, sweet cream, salted
  • 3 cups mini marshmallows
  • 3 cups Kellogg’s Rice Krispie cereal
  • Wilton Color Right Food Coloring – Yellow and Blue mixed to make green
  • Nonpareils Christmas sprinkles (optional)

White Batch

  • 3 tablespoons butter, sweet cream, salted
  • 3 cups mini marshmallows
  • 3 cups Kellogg’s Rice Krispie cereal
  • No food coloring
  • Nonpareils Christmas sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt Butter: In a medium pan, melt 3 tablespoons of butter over low heat until fully melted but not browned.
  2. Add Marshmallows: Add 3 cups of mini marshmallows to the melted butter and stir continuously until the marshmallows are completely melted and smooth.
  3. Remove from Heat: Take the pan off the heat to prevent burning and to prepare for coloring.
  4. Add Coloring: Add the desired food coloring (red, green made by mixing yellow and blue, or none for white) to the melted marshmallow mixture and stir thoroughly to combine.
  5. Mix in Cereal: Fold in 3 cups of Kellogg’s Rice Krispie cereal until every piece is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  6. Add Sprinkles (Optional): Stir in Christmas-themed nonpareils sprinkles if desired for extra festive decoration.
  7. Cool Slightly: Allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes so it’s easier to handle but still pliable.
  8. Form Bites: Measure approximately 0.6 ounces of mixture and roll it into a compact ball with your hands.
  9. Cool Completely: Place the Rice Krispie Treat Bites on a parchment-lined tray or plate and let them cool completely to firm up.
  10. Repeat: Repeat all steps for the other two colors to create a full set of red, green, and white bites.

Notes

  • Use wax or parchment paper to keep your hands from sticking when rolling the bites.
  • Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
  • To make green coloring, combine yellow and blue food coloring gradually until desired shade is reached.
  • For a less sweet alternative, reduce marshmallows slightly but keep the texture in mind.
  • Butter can be unsalted if preferred; adjust additional salt accordingly if adding.
