Description

A simple and delicious recipe for Easy Baked Brie with caramelized apples and pecans. This warm, gooey appetizer is perfect for entertaining and combines sweet, savory, and nutty flavors with a creamy brie cheese base.

Ingredients

Scale

Apples and Topping

  • 1 apple
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans

Cheese

  • 8 oz. wheel of brie

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Apple: Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Peel and chop the apple into ½-inch pieces to ensure even caramelization.
  2. Caramelize Apples: Melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Sauté the mixture, stirring occasionally, until the apples are softened and the brown sugar has formed a sticky caramel glaze, about 10 minutes.
  3. Prepare Brie: Score the top of the brie wheel in a hatch pattern to allow the flavors to penetrate. Alternatively, you may remove the top rind or leave it whole if preferred. Place the brie in a small baking dish.
  4. Assemble and Bake: Pour the caramelized apples evenly over the top of the brie. Sprinkle the chopped pecans on top to add texture and a nutty flavor. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, until the brie is softened and warm.
  5. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve hot with crackers, bread, or apple slices for dipping and spreading.

Notes

  • Use a firm but sweet apple variety like Honeycrisp or Fuji for the best flavor and texture.
  • You can remove the brie rind if you prefer a softer texture and more integrated flavor.
  • Feel free to substitute pecans with walnuts or toasted almonds.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the melted, gooey texture of the baked brie.
  • Pair with crusty bread, crackers, or fresh fruit slices to complement the sweet and savory profile.
