Ingredients
Scale
Brownies
- 2 packages NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Brownies & More Chocolate Baking Mix with Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 6 tablespoons water
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels (divided as 2/3 cup and 1/3 cup)
Chocolate Pudding
- 2 (3.9-ounce) packages instant chocolate fudge pudding mix
- 4 cups cold milk
Whipped Cream
- 4 cups heavy cream, very cold
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Chocolate shavings to garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Brownies. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and spray two 8-inch-square baking pans with cooking spray to prevent sticking. In a large bowl, stir together the brownie mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water until well blended. Fold in 2/3 cup of the semi-sweet chocolate morsels. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
- Bake the Brownies. Bake the brownies for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven carefully and sprinkle the remaining 1/3 cup of morsels evenly on top of the batter. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 25 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted near the center comes out clean. Allow the brownies to cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into small squares.
- Make the Chocolate Pudding. In a large bowl, pour in 4 cups of cold milk. Add the instant chocolate fudge pudding mix and beat with a whisk or electric mixer for 2 to 5 minutes until the pudding sets. Refrigerate until ready to assemble the trifle.
- Whip the Cream. In a mixing bowl, combine the very cold heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk or beat with a stand mixer until stiff peaks form. Set aside the whipped cream for assembling.
- Assemble the Brownie Trifle. In a large dessert bowl, start with a layer of brownie squares, followed by a layer of whipped cream, and then a layer of chocolate pudding. Repeat these layers once more, finishing off with a final layer of whipped cream. Garnish the top with chocolate shavings.
- Serve or Store. Serve the brownie trifle immediately or cover and store it in the refrigerator until ready to serve. It can also be prepared a day ahead for convenience.
Notes
- This dessert can be adapted for various bowl sizes or individual servings by layering brownies, whipped cream, and pudding accordingly.
- You can prepare the trifle a day in advance and keep it refrigerated to enhance the flavors and save time on serving day.
- Use very cold heavy cream to achieve the best whipped cream texture.
- For a richer chocolate flavor, consider adding a drizzle of chocolate syrup between layers.
- Substitute vegetable oil with melted butter for a different richness in the brownies.
