Description
These Smash Chicken Caesar Tacos combine seasoned ground chicken pressed into tortillas and cooked until crispy, topped with fresh romaine lettuce, Caesar dressing, parmesan cheese, and bacon bits for a flavorful and easy-to-make taco dish.
Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Mixture
- 500 g ground chicken
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Tacos
- 8 small flour tortillas
- ½ head romaine lettuce
- ⅓ cup Caesar dressing
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
- 3 tbsp bacon bits
- Avocado oil for cooking (approx 1 tbsp)
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken mixture: In a bowl, combine the ground chicken with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly to evenly distribute the seasonings.
- Spread chicken on tortillas: Take each tortilla and spread a thin, even layer of the seasoned ground chicken on the back side, pressing down firmly to create a compact layer.
- Cook the tacos: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a little avocado oil. Place the tortillas chicken-side down in the skillet and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes until the chicken is golden brown and fully cooked. Flip the tortillas and cook the other side to crisp it up, about 1 to 2 minutes.
- Prepare toppings: Wash and chop the romaine lettuce. Grate the parmesan cheese if not pre-grated.
- Assemble the tacos: Top each cooked chicken tortilla with fresh romaine lettuce, a drizzle of Caesar dressing, grated parmesan cheese, and bacon bits. Optionally, toss the lettuce with Caesar dressing before topping if preferred.
- Serve: Fold the tacos and serve immediately for the best crispy chicken taco experience.
Notes
- Use avocado oil or any neutral oil with a high smoke point for cooking.
- Feel free to substitute the flour tortillas with corn tortillas for a gluten-free version, but note this affects the diet classification.
- For extra crispiness, cook longer on the second side but watch carefully to avoid burning.
- You can prepare the Caesar salad topping in advance and toss the lettuce with dressing before assembling.
- Bacon bits can be substituted with cooked crispy bacon pieces if preferred.
