Main Ingredients
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 14 oz Smoked Sausage, sliced
- 1 Yellow Onion, diced
- 1 Green Bell Pepper, diced
- 1 Red Bell Pepper, diced
- 1 tbsp Veggie Seasoning Blend
- 6-7 Garlic Cloves, minced
- 1 cup Chicken Broth
- 1 cup Heavy Cream
- 5.3 oz Boursin Garlic and Fine Herbs Cheese
- 19 oz Frozen Cheese Tortellini
- 3 oz Shaved or Grated Parmesan
- 1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes, optional
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Brown the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add sliced smoked sausage and sauté until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove sausage from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté Vegetables: Add diced onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper to the same skillet. Sprinkle with veggie seasoning blend, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes or until vegetables soften and become fragrant.
- Add Garlic: Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute to release its aroma without burning.
- Create Sauce Base: Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Add the Boursin cheese and stir continuously until the cheese fully melts and the sauce becomes creamy and smooth.
- Cook Tortellini: Add frozen cheese tortellini to the skillet. Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover with a lid, reduce heat to low, and let simmer for 10 minutes until tortellini is cooked through.
- Finish the Dish: Uncover the skillet and stir in shaved or grated Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes if using. Return the browned smoked sausage to the pan. Simmer uncovered for an additional 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and everything is heated through. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
- Serve: Serve hot immediately. Enjoy the creamy and flavorful tortellini with smoked sausage!
Notes
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheating: Reheat gently on the stovetop over low heat with a splash of chicken broth or cream to loosen the sauce. You can also reheat in the microwave, stirring halfway through for even heating.
- Texture: Freshly cooked tortellini will be al dente, but it will soften slightly after refrigeration.
- Red Pepper Flakes: Adjust the amount or omit based on your preferred spice level.
- Veggie Seasoning Blend: Substitute with Italian seasoning or your favorite herb blend if unavailable.
