Description

This Creamy Garlic Chicken recipe features tender, golden chicken cutlets cooked in a rich and flavorful garlic cream sauce. Perfect for a comforting dinner, it’s easy to make with simple ingredients and a luscious sauce that infuses every bite with garlic goodness and a hint of lemon.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Flour for dredging

Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter divided
  • 1 whole head garlic cloves peeled
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or stock
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
  • Parsley chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Cut the chicken breasts in half lengthwise to make 4 smaller cutlets. Season them generously with salt and pepper and coat each piece in flour.
  2. Cook the chicken: Heat the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, sauté the chicken cutlets for 5 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. Sauté the garlic: Lower the heat to medium or medium-low if using cast iron. Add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the pan and melt it. Add the peeled whole garlic cloves and cook, stirring often, for 3 to 4 minutes until lightly browned on the outside.
  4. Make the sauce base: Pour in the chicken broth, lemon juice, and sprinkle the garlic powder into the pan. Let the mixture bubble and cook for about 4 minutes until the liquid reduces noticeably.
  5. Add cream and finish cooking: Stir in the heavy cream, then return the chicken cutlets to the pan. Continue cooking for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens and the chicken is cooked through. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve.

Notes

  • Use large boneless skinless chicken breasts since they are cut in half; if using smaller breasts, you may use 4 and keep them whole.
  • If garlic cloves are very large, cut them in half so they cook evenly.
