Ingredients

Scale

Dip Ingredients

  • 8 oz. full fat sour cream, room temperature
  • 8 oz. full fat cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz. shredded mozzarella, divided
  • 2 oz. shredded Parmesan, divided
  • 1 (6 oz.) can pitted medium black olives, halved or sliced
  • 1 (6 oz.) can pitted green olives, halved or sliced
  • Kosher salt, a few hearty pinches
  • Fresh cracked pepper, a pinch
  • Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish
  • Sliced French baguette, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the dip.
  2. Mix Base Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, cream cheese, minced garlic, half of the shredded mozzarella, half of the shredded Parmesan, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Fold in Olives: Gently fold the halved or sliced black and green olives into the cheese mixture, ensuring even distribution without mashing the olives.
  4. Transfer to Baking Dish: Grease a 9×9 inch baking dish or medium-sized cast iron skillet. Spread the dip mixture evenly in the dish. Top with the remaining shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  5. Bake the Dip: Bake the dip in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes until the edges are bubbly and the cheese on top is melted.
  6. Broil for Golden Topping: Switch the oven to broil and broil the dip for 1 to 2 minutes, watching closely until the mozzarella on top turns a dark golden brown.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with fresh chopped parsley, and serve warm with sliced French baguette for dipping. Enjoy your delicious cheesy baked olive dip!

Notes

  • Allow cream cheese and sour cream to come to room temperature for easier mixing and a smoother texture.
  • Reserve a handful of olives before folding into the dip for a pretty presentation by sprinkling them on top before baking.
  • Use a greased cast iron skillet or a 9×9 baking dish for even baking and easy serving.
  • Broil carefully and watch closely to prevent burning the cheese topping.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
