Egg Rolls
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon hamburger seasoning
- 1/2 small yellow onion, finely chopped (about 1/4 cup)
- 4 large dill pickles, finely diced (about 1 cup)
- 1 1/2 cups (169.5 g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 10 egg roll wrappers
- 1 recipe onion bacon jam, prepared
Dipping Sauce
- 1/4 cup (58 g) mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons mustard
- 2 teaspoons ketchup
Instructions
- Cook the Beef: To a medium skillet over medium heat, add ground beef and hamburger seasoning. Cook, stirring occasionally, until no pink remains, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and drain excess oil.
- Prepare Egg Roll Wrappers: Lay out 10 egg roll wrappers on a clean surface, working with one wrapper at a time.
- Add Filling: Near the center of each wrapper, add 1 tablespoon bacon jam, ¼ cup hamburger mixture, 1 teaspoon diced onion, 1 ½ tablespoons diced pickle, and 2 tablespoons shredded cheddar cheese.
- Roll Egg Rolls: Wet the edges of the egg roll wrapper lightly with water. Fold up the bottom corner over the filling and roll once. Then fold in the right and left corners to the center, pressing to seal, forming an open envelope shape. Continue rolling until fully wrapped and press edges to seal.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
- Air Fry Egg Rolls: Place egg rolls into the air fryer basket in batches if necessary. Spray tops with nonstick cooking spray. Air fry for 4 minutes, then flip egg rolls, spray again, and cook another 4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Make Dipping Sauce: While egg rolls cook, combine mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup in a small bowl. Mix until smooth.
- Serve: Serve the hot egg rolls immediately with the prepared dipping sauce.
Notes
- To fry in oil: Heat 2–3 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F in a deep pot or fryer. Fry egg rolls in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- To bake in the oven: Preheat oven to 375°F. Place egg rolls on parchment-lined baking sheet, spray or brush with oil, bake for 20 minutes, flipping halfway for even crispiness.
- Be sure to wet the edges of the wrappers well to ensure they seal properly during rolling.
- The onion bacon jam adds a sweet and smoky flavor; if unavailable, caramelized onions with a bit of cooked bacon can be a substitute.
