Potato Chips
- 2 large baking potatoes Russet potatoes, sliced into 1/8-inch slices
- 6 cups ice water
- Non-Aerosol olive oil cooking spray no propellants and no additives
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt Lawry’s brand
Optional Garnish
- Fresh chopped parsley or chives
Instructions
- Slice and Soak Potatoes: Place the thinly sliced potatoes into a large bowl with the ice water. Allow the potato slices to soak for 20 minutes to remove excess starch and ensure crispiness.
- Rinse and Drain: Drain the starchy water and rinse the potato slices under fresh cold water to wash away remaining starch.
- Dry Potatoes: Spread the potato slices evenly on a baking sheet lined with paper towels. Use additional paper towels to pat the slices very dry, removing as much moisture as possible.
- Oil the Potato Slices: Spray the dried potato slices evenly on both sides with the non-aerosol olive oil cooking spray for a light coat of oil to aid crisping.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F to ensure a hot environment for crisp cooking.
- Air Fry in Batches: Place a single layer of potatoes in the air fryer basket without overcrowding or overlapping. Air fry for 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to promote even cooking. Check frequently in the last 2-3 minutes to prevent burning. Repeat with remaining batches if needed.
- Season and Serve: Immediately transfer the hot chips to a serving plate and sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley or chives if desired.
